Equity of Opportunity: Removing Obstructions for Different Paths to Converge

While there is no single metric that can measure the tech industry’s improvements towards mitigating systemic inequalities and bias, the presence of equity of opportunity serves as one indicator. Yet how can we measure progress towards equity of opportunity? In this panel we discuss this topic with Lyft employees who transitioned into tech from unrelated career paths or unconventional backgrounds. Panelists will share their stories and discuss thoughts on what behaviors and practices contributed to or hindered their success, culminating in a dialogue on practices companies can improve upon to advance the industry closer towards a true equal opportunity space.
